Pamela Medhurst – Mrs Duster Buster
A NEW city business called Mrs Duster Buster has been launched to make life a little easier for people with no time to do the domestic chores, and is looking for a professional cleaning company that provides a service with no contracts, and no worries.
52-year-old Pamela Medhurst, who lives in Whitleigh, set up her new business after being made voluntary redundant from the Police Service after working for 28 years in the communications and frontline stationary counter sections.
Pamela Medhurst, said: “With all the changes and cutbacks going on in the Police Service I decided to take voluntary redundancy and realise my dream in setting up my own cleaning company. Mrs Duster Buster is unique because I will do anything in the house from domestic chores to gardening.”
“I heard about Outset Plymouth from the local press and they have been absolutely amazing in guiding my business plans, and focusing my attention on how my new enterprise will develop going forward. The team at Outset has really helped with support and guidance and especially networking opportunities. It can be a very lonely world being an entrepreneur so I like the sense of community at Outset.”
Pamela is originally from Kent and moved to Plymouth over eight years ago to live near her family in the city. In her spare-time Pamela also runs a boarding kennel for rabbits and other small furry animals, and also does voluntary work for the Woodside Animal Sanctuary.
“Mrs Duster Buster is building a reputation for quality and reliability. I care about providing a consistent, thorough clean. At Mrs Duster Buster we respect our customers, their homes, and I take pride in my work. I see my business growing and especially creating other employment opportunities for local people. I really enjoy my job and it’s very humbling to see the variety of customers I work for. I already have eleven clients on my books!”
Outset Plymouth has been funded by the ERDF Competitiveness and Employment programme, which invests in activities that will have a long-term impact on the growth and development of the local economy.
