With a young family, a career ranging from hands on primary education to managing training services for children and young people, and a long held dream for running her own business, Plymouth born Linda Hobbs took the bull by the horns and contacted Outset Plymouth in April 2010 to take the first steps to finally launching her own business.
The drive behind her new enterprise was the ambition to create something that enabled growth, sustainability and the capacity to provide quality training and consultancy within the City.
“Outset Plymouth has given me the confidence and belief that my business can be successful following both individual and group consultations and advice.” Says Linda. “The team at Outset are always available to discuss business ideas and give me support when I need it with advice and guidance on marketing, PR, research, sales forecasting, whilst making me feel like I am part of something really special.”
“The workshops provided me with the skills and knowledge to devise a clear structured business plan that is achievable both short and long-term.”
The Plymouth Training and Consultancy (PTC) specialises in designing and delivering training for volunteers and employees working with children and young people. They provide a range of high quality training including three new accredited NSPCC training programmes.
Linda, added: “ These training programmes provide opportunities for local organisations to meet new government legislation set out in 2010 (Working together to Safeguard Children).”
“With out the support of Outset I would not have had the drive and spirit to follow my dreams through.”
Outset Plymouth has been funded by ERDF Competitiveness and Employment programme, which invests in activities that will have a long-term impact on the growth and development of the local economy.
